Campaign Profile: Bucknell University
We at Blood:Water Mission could not continue our fight in bringing relief to the injustices our African brothers and sisters face if it were not for the support and movement of people here in the U.S. Recently we heard a story that made our hearts swell with hope, as it is a hopeful thing to see the hearts of others called to action.

This spring at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, student Christine Yaged started a chapter of STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition, a student organization designed to be a sustainable student network that fights genocide occurring around the globe.
When discussing humanitarian aid causes for which they could fundraise, Christine and the STAND group came upon Blood:Water Mission and the work we're doing to end the clean water and clean blood crises in Africa. After researching our organization and seeing our widespread efforts in several African countries (Sudan in particular, as it is a country currently plagued by immense genocide and thus close to the heart of the group's mission), Christine and her peers decided to hold a fundraiser for B:WM.
The students bought thin black string and a variety of beads and from these materials crafted "Blood:Water Bracelets." Desiring to get students' attention near Valentine's Day, the STAND group sold the bracelets on Bucknell's campus from February 11-13, 2009. Each bracelet sold for $1, with the message that one single dollar is enough to provide clean water for one African for an entire year.
Christine and the others received an overwhelming response from their peers, many students purchasing multiple bracelets for friends and family. In the three days, the group sold 376 bracelets and raised $376 for Blood:Water! Thrilled by the success of the "Blood:Water Bracelets", the Bucknell STAND group is planning to sell them again at the end of April, during Genocide Prevention Week.
We are so grateful for the efforts of Christine and the other members of the Bucknell University STAND group. Keep up the good work!
