It's truly been a community experience seeing how everyone brought the challenge into their lives and shared it with their friends and family. Whether online via personal websites and social networks or in coffee shops and kitchens across the country you took the challenge and the message to your repspective spheres of influence. A special thanks to Brandon Heath and all of the guys in Jars of Clay for taking on the challenge personally and spreading the word. Also, a big thanks to everyone at JoyFM in Sarasota, FL. The radio station has been promoting the 40 Days of Water Campaign with its listeners. The Jars guys were there yesterday to receive a $1000 check from the station!
We'd love to share a few of the stories with you. We invited people to comment about their experiences via Twitter throughout the 40 Days. These are a few of our favorites:
amandayeager: My fiance and I are extending our #40days to April 20, when he moves here, so we can share our first cup of coffee together :)
nashpropst: pouring water over a bowl of coffee grounds for breakfast doesn't count right?
elleldee: ummm...having a fruit cup & slurping the juice with the fruit doesn't count, right? i realized that after i ate one for lunch...
jamiereavis: the challenge is going well and has been a great conversation piece above everything else...forthcoming donation not included
RoBeckVining: THANK YOU. My 5 yr-old can explain your (our) mission and feels connected to Africa's needs partly b/c of your work and his part
mellamokiwi: halfway done with 40 days of water challenge. no caffeine on the morning of the SATs was very difficult, lol.
lucyshouse: Doing good til I got a bun in the oven. Now I let myself have tea in the a.m. to ease the nausea. Nothing else though! :)
kretzu: my 40days are going miserably. i miss sweet tea. but making such a simple choice that can save so many lives is amazing.
Lauren_Gene: My 40 days are still going pretty darn good- My jar of "because I ordered water" money keeps me motivated
erinelizabeth3: I love when people ask me why I am only drinking H2O - I am able to tell a story and a need that is within reach. Beautiful.
missrenee: talk about sacrifice, you ever had a cookie w/o milk? pitiful...
One supporter even posted his ending celebration photos:
jucaofclay: Check out my 40 days photos! http://twitpic.com/335tv
We'd love to hear your story too. Send us your feedback, photos, and impactful moments to grassroots@bloodwatermission.com ---We'll highlight a few of the best on the Blood:Water Blog.
Even though the 40 Days is over, we hope your committment to our neighbors in Africa will not end today. We hope you'll continue to join with us to bring together your communities to creatively tackle the needs of communities in Africa. Please continue to share this story.
