"More Than a Sexy Cause" - Blood:Water Embraces the 'Messy'
Blood:Water Mission took on the topic of "cause fatigue" in a creative way last Friday night to an overwhelming response. "Love (as it turns out) is a Battlefield," featuring Sarah Masen, Justin Caldwell, Sandra McCracken (w/ Derek Webb), Matthew Perryman Jones, David Dark, and Donald Miller brought together a fantastic night of music, story, video, and discussion in support of Blood:Water Mission. The evening presented a slightly satirical yet deeply sincere message surrounding "faith in action's" flirtations with fashion and its connection and challenge to sustainable transformation. The historic Downtown Presbyterian Church in the heart of downtown Nashville was at capacity with over 600 attendees as well as the 20 members of the Ride:Well Tour, a cross-country bicycle tour supporting Blood:Water, who were making their Nashville stop. $4,400 was raised for the community of Marsabit, Kenya to provide access to clean water and facilitate their clinic that provides care for HIV/AIDS and other treatable and/or preventable diseases crippling the region. Adding to the reach, the event was also covered by Nashville's NBC affiliate, Channel 4, as well as national publication, Christianity Today. (see below)
