Goodbye Interns: Part 2
In today's blog we continue in hearing from our Blood:Water interns as they reflect on their summer with us. If you missed the first part, you can read Meg's blog HERE.

Can the summer actually be over? Is my time here at Blood:Water really coming to an end? The time sure
has flown by!
I grew up a Kansas girl, and I now go to school in California. I honestly did not know what I was getting myself into when I decide to venture out to Nashville for the summer and Intern with Blood:Water Mission. I can now say that working here at Blood:Water Mission has exceeded all of my high expectations, and I will look back on this summer with fond memories for all that I learned and all the great things I was able to be a part of. If I had to pick one characteristic that I have loved the most about B:WM it would be the people.
The people that work here at B:WM are passionate about what they do. All summer long I never heard one person complain, and I could tell that they were happy to come to work each day. This created such a fun, productive work environment. I have loved not only getting to work with the whole staff and other interns, but also getting to know each of them personally.
Secondly, I have loved working with numerous donors, and I loved having the opportunity to be a contact for many people as they come up with their own campaign ideas and ways to be involved with B:WM. I have loved hearing people's stories and how people are willing to share a meaningful story from their life . It is these stories that brightened my day. It was great to not just get a name, but also a story to go along with the generous donations we would receive. God is at work in people's lives all across the country, and I was reminded of this through donor stories.
Lastly, my life had been touched by Africa, and the precious people that live there. Through pictures, stories, and videos I have been able to witness how much joy these individuals have. They are full of life! These smiling faces are the reason we here at Blood:Water come to work and fight each day to spread awareness and empower communities about the HIV/AIDS and water crises in Africa. While I have not yet had the opportunity to travel over to Africa, I hope some day I will find myself on a plane to Africa so that I can learn from these amazing people and get to experience their world.
As I head back to California and walk back into my classes, I will not forget my time here at Blood:Water Mission and the people who have touched my life. I am honored to be part of the B:WM family and can't wait to spread the word about the amazing things that are going on in this little east Nashville office!
