Return to Lwala
Blood:Water has been a part of this story from the beginning. When there was nothing but a building that stood empty of people or supplies, Blood:Water provided the seed funding for the first supplies and first nurses . From that point on, the clinic continued to grow. Blood:Water continued to help until the clinic had its own donors and ability to continue to provide much needed medical services. Recently the efforts of clinic have grown - it is now called the Lwala Community Alliance (LCA). The LCA not only runs the clinic, but works in the surrounding villages that use the clinic to raise the overall health and development of the region. Yes, in the global scheme of things, this is a small region. But, that is the beauty of it. It is a small region where a real difference can be made.
I am so excited to share with you that Blood:Water is once again stepping alongside the Lwala Community Alliance to help with water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) at the clinic and the primary schools in the region. In October, I was in Lwala visiting the clinic and their other ongoing projects for my first time. It was so exciting to get to talk and dream with the staff, schools, and community members. Eventually, this project will reach all 12 primary schools in the region along with LCA's other educational programs; for this first stage, we are starting at 4 of the schools. I am looking forward to sharing more with you in the coming months as this project continues to develop.
