A Simple Technology Saving Thousands of Lives
It is a simple filter. Made from cement, sand, and pvc pipe, it is something you can make at home after a trip to your local hardware store. It costs $120. A simple technology that can be traced back to the first time rain passed through the earth's soil. Water is filtered by the small grains of sand as gravity pulls water through the filter, and in a the confined space, bacteria and viruses eat away at each other until what comes out of the filter is clean, safe drinking water.
One filter typically serves a family of six, providing clean water for roughly 20 years. The view of these filters brings joy to our hearts because we know that 25 families will have clean water in their homes. 25 families won't have to send their mother, daughter, or son to walk miles for water.
