The Road Ahead

theroadahead-1.jpg

Having been a part of Blood:Water since the early dream stages, it is humbling to see that many of the initial ideas truly had legs and have made a difference over the past 7-8 years. We've been a part of something bigger than we imagined and our opportunities ahead are no different. We are stewards of this journey and part of that has been a management of growth. As a start-up organization you have a limited perspective on growth compared to a sustainable organization. In the first few years as an organization, we went through seasons of tremendous fundraising and diligently added partnerships in Africa to make sure the funds not only were spent in a timely fashion, but would also make a difference more than 10-20 years down the road. This sounds simple, but it is not necessarily an "industry-standard" approach so it is a very weighty matter and a high priority for us.

Today we not only have the benefit of hindsight - the lessons learned and celebration of accomplishments - but we have a clearer view looking forward as well. We know that we're not done yet. We know that there is so much more we could do, even if we didn't add new facets or programs. The need is that great. And because we know what we want to do and the work it will require to keep growing toward that destination, we're expanding our team to help lead us there.

Last month Chris Bolton joined us as Managing Director, and last week we announced that Mike Hamilton has joined us as President of US Operations. We're delighted to have them joining us at this precise point in Blood:Water's history. We believe their diversity in experiences leading healthy growth while ensuring excellence in stewardship will be a huge asset to Blood:Water in the days, months and years to come. They're coming in with a lot of excitement about what we've already been a part of in the past 7-8 years. And they can't wait to bolster the mission of Blood:Water toward empowering more communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crises in Africa. Thank you for continuing to support Blood:Water and for joining us in grassroots efforts and personal sacrifice. We're thrilled with what lies ahead...

You can join us as we build our capacity, so that we may continue to serve the needs of our friends in Africa by becoming a Community Builder today.
