#FacesofMarsabit
A community member stands by a rain catchment tank in Marsabit, Kenya. Tanks like this one, helped sustain his community during the 25 month long drought in 2010-2011 in the Horn of Africa. Rain catchment tanks are just one solution to the water crises in regions where there are "rainy" and "dry" seasons. During the months of the rainy season, these tanks are filled and community members can retrieve water throughout the dry season.
Blood:Water Mission and our partners in Marsabit have decided to take this concept to a larger scale and install a dam in the community which will collect water for 3,000 members of the community! This is a long-term solution to the water crisis in this community.
This post marks the beginning to a series that we are calling #FacesofMarsabit. It is our attempt to introduce you to some of our friends in Marsabit who will benefit from this new solution. Please join us in spreading the word on your social networks and help us make the #FacesofMarsabit known, and let's #buildadam in Kenya!
