How do I get a job working for Blood:Water?
To see if we have any current open positions, please click here.
You are a faith-based organization. What does that mean?
Blood:Water Mission's work is founded on the Biblical call to love and serve the poor. Our staff and board are Christians from a variety of traditions who are motivated by a call to do justice and love the poor. Our participants in the mission are people of good will with various faith backgrounds. B:WM provides water and AIDS support to people regardless of their religion, ethnicity or gender.
How is your work influenced by the Christian gospel?
Our core competency as an organization is focused on best practices in water, HIV/AIDS and community development. It is the gospel of Jesus' call that compels us in the work of B:WM to seek justice and love the poor. Donor funds go directly toward serving the mission of empowering communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crises in Africa.
How do I apply to be an intern?
Blood:Water Mission accepts Intern applications from college students and young professionals for the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters (with some flexibility around these specific dates). If you are interested, please fill out our Internship Application and email it to bloodwater@bloodwatermission.com. Please contact us at 615.550.4296 if you have additional questions about our jobs or internships.
Can I volunteer in your office?
Yes! Volunteers are a valued part of our team at Blood:Water. From time to time we need volunteers to help with events, mailings and other activities in the Nashville area. If you want to be added to the Nashville volunteer list email us at volunteers@bloodwatermission.com.
Can I go to Africa with Blood:Water?
Currently Blood:Water does not host trips to Africa. We collaborate with local organizations who are responsible for implementing programs in communities. While we send staff to support these organizations and assess completed work, we do not have the ability to bring guests with us. We recognize the importance of people going to Africa, but the demand on our time would greatly reduce the efficacy of our work. We highly encourage individuals to seek out opportunities with sending agencies such as NGO's and churches.
How much does it cost to drill a well?
The costs of drilling wells vary significantly from region to region. Cost factors include local geology (including depth to water), location remoteness, and local cost of materials. Currently the cost range is $4,500 to $18,000. More than 50% of our projects are repairing broken wells which were poorly implemented; this is a very cost-effective solution ($750 to $1,500).
