I Know Leah

Leah Agutu Oyugi - Lwala

Leah smiles when she speaks of how she and her husband Moses met, and the loving father he was to their three children. After his sudden passing, Leah learned of his infection with HIV/AIDS and soon decided to get tested herself.  Discovering that she was also positive, the workers at the Lwala Community Hospital helped her be open about her status and receive the care she needs. Leah has inspired others in her community in Lwala, Kenya to be tested and know their status so that they too can live healthy lives. Leah now participates in hygiene and sanitation training and recognizes the importance of clean water for those living with HIV. She also supports her family through making and selling soap. Her strong faith and supportive community help her through hard times and it is clear by her smile that hope prevails.
